How do chemical manufacturer safely transport their products?
Chemical manufacturers must ensure safety through strict packaging, specialized transportation vehicles, full process monitoring, and emergency management when transporting products, with the core being the prevention of leakage, fire, explosion, and environmental pollution risks.
1、 Before transportation: compliant packaging and qualification preparation
Classification packaging, strength matching
According to the degree of chemical hazard (such as flammability, corrosion, toxicity), Class I (high risk), Class II (medium risk), and Class III (low risk) packaging should be used, and the container should comply with GB12463-2009 standard to ensure sealing, shock resistance, and leak prevention.
Flammable liquids are packaged in closed steel drums, while corrosive products are packaged in double layers (with an inner leak proof layer and an outer solid box);
Pressure resistant steel cylinders are used for gas transportation, and the wall thickness and valve sealing are regularly checked.
Clear identification and complete documentation
The packaging should be labeled with GHS tags, UN numbers (such as UN3265), and hazardous material signs (such as skeletons and flames), and carry safety data sheets (MSDS) and transportation permits with the vehicle.
Personnel Qualification and Training
Drivers and escorts must hold certificates, receive professional training, and be familiar with the characteristics of chemicals and emergency response procedures.
2、 During transportation: dedicated vehicles and full process monitoring
Use specialized transportation vehicles
Dangerous chemicals must be transported by dedicated vehicles, and mixing of food or ordinary goods is prohibited;
Hang the "dangerous goods" sign on the vehicle, install flame arresters on the exhaust pipe, and lay anti slip materials (such as grass mats) on the carriage;
When transporting flammable materials such as methanol, tank trucks are equipped with grounding chains to eliminate static electricity.
Intelligent monitoring and environmental control
Install GPS and temperature and humidity monitoring systems on vehicles, and upload data in real-time;
Mandatory installation of infrared thermal imaging devices for gas transportation to monitor temperature anomalies;
Avoid transportation at noon during the high temperature season, choose the morning and evening time slots to prevent sun exposure from increasing pressure.
Route and Time Management
Avoid densely populated areas, water sources, and high temperature periods;
Without the approval of the public security organs, entry into restricted areas is not allowed.
3、 After transportation: cleaning and emergency preparedness
Accident Prevention and Emergency Response
Vehicles are equipped with emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, leak absorbent materials, and gas masks;
When a leak occurs, activate the "15 minute response mechanism", use polymer sealant to block it, and personnel should wear positive pressure respirators for disposal;
Immediately report to the environmental protection and fire departments, and follow the contingency plan for coordinated handling.
Tool cleaning and waste disposal
After transportation, vehicles and containers should be cleaned and disinfected, and residues should be disposed of according to hazardous waste regulations to prevent cross contamination.
