According to information provided to Travel + Leisure by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the island nation no longer requires any visitors to undergo a medical examination before to arrival if they have been properly vaccinated against the disease.
On Sunday, the new regulation became mandatory. Furthermore, visitors visiting the Bahamas are no longer required to submit a completed phrazle Bahamas Travel Health Visa.
"As this epidemic evolves, the Bahamas is adjusting its response. Travelers' admission procedures need to be streamlined as much as possible without compromising public health "Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation Chester Cooper said T+L in a statement. We anticipate that the removal of the Travel Health Visa, together with the revised pre-travel testing procedures, will ease passenger burdens and hasten the tourist industry's revival.
Unvaccinated visitors aged 2 and above will need to produce documentation of a negative PCR or fast antigen test conducted within three days of arrival. Those who have already been vaccinated will not be required to undergo a test before arriving. Passengers in this category will be required to provide negative test results at airport check-in.
However, regardless of immunization status, COVID-19 testing is no longer necessary for intra-Bahamas island travel.
According to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, all passengers are required to wear masks when transiting through airport terminals, including security, customs, and baggage claim.
The Bahamas has now joined several other Caribbean islands that have done away with pre-arrival testing and eased other COVID-19 era rules, including Saint Lucia (which did away with testing for vaccinated visitors) and Grenada (which did away with all pandemic-related entry rules), Aruba (which did away with all entry rules), and Bonaire (which did away with all entry rules). And as of last week, visitors visiting the British Virgin Islands are no longer required to provide evidence of vaccinations or registration on the BVI Gateway Travel Portal.
U.S. territory Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands removed prohibitions on internal travel due to the epidemic in March and May, respectively.
